MASON COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) – The driver of a tractor-trailer involved in a major accident Tuesday in West Virginia was saved after he was seen hanging from an overpass.

The Nitro Fire Department said it took 90 minutes to put up the rigging and rescue the driver.

Dispatchers said U.S. Route 35 at mile marker 22 in Mason County was closed for hours because of the accident.

Dispatchers said 150 gallons of diesel fuel was spilled in the crash.

Multiple fire departments responded to the scene of the crash.

“Everybody pulled together and made it work, and the end result was a successful rescue, and that’s what’s important,” Point Pleasant Fire Chief Jeremy Bryant said.

No injuries were reported, and emergency crews said the scene has been cleared.
