GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN/Gray News) – The father who was charged after his child was found dead in a North Carolina motel room a year ago pleaded guilty Thursday.

Timothy Curry was originally charged with felony negligent child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury and involuntary manslaughter.

In court Thursday morning, Curry pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter.

Prosecutors said Curry’s 6-year-old son had leukemia and his parents failed to get him proper medical care.

The child died on Nov. 22, 2024, in a motel room at Knights Inn on Memorial Drive in Greenville. Curry also worked at the motel as a front desk clerk.

A judge sentenced Curry to serve a sentence between one year, four months and two years, five months in prison.

The boy’s mother, Saunsiree Jefferson, is still awaiting her court date on the same charges.
