MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A woman was charged after she threatened to shoot up a Memphis high school, according to the Memphis Police Department.

Sherita Smith, 36, was charged with threats of mass violence on school property or at a school-related activity.

On Wednesday, Aug. 20, MPD responded to a fight call at Westwood High School on 4480 Westmont Road.

The fight was between several students.

The principal informed police that MSCS officers interfered in the fight and detained all students involved.

Smith was present during the brawl, and her two daughters were part of the fight.

Smith became upset with the outcome since all parties involved were suspended.

According to the Memphis Police Department, two students overheard Smith as she was walking out of the school, making threats to return and shoot up the school.

Both students then contacted the school staff and provided written statements about the encounter.

The MSCS officer identified Smith while on the scene.
