201 Poplar inmate dies; TBI investigates

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is reporting that a Shelby County Jail inmate has died.
According to TBI, agents have been asked to investigate the death of Rockez McDaniel, 33, an inmate who died while booked in the jail.
TBI is also reporting that an autopsy is being performed on McDaniel to determine the cause of death.
We reached out to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office for a comment; we’re waiting to hear back and will keep you updated as we learn more.
