Man charged in 4th of July shooting in Orange Mound

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Memphis police arrested a man accused in a shooting on July 4 in Orange Mound.

The shooting happened outside the Park Avenue Market, located on Park between Lewis-Davis Park and Semmes Street. One man was rushed to the hospital.

Days later, investigators were able to speak with the victim, who told them he was breaking up a fight involving a friend when several people began shooting at him.

David Willis was identified by police as one of the shooters who was seen on surveillance footage.

Investigators tracked down Willis to his home, where they found the weapon and a bag of marijuana and took Willis into custody.

Willis is charged with attempted second-degree murder, possessing a firearm during a dangerous felony, possessing a handgun as a convicted felon and possession of a controlled substance.

Willis was booked on a $250,000 bond.
