WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ/Gray News) - A Texas woman is wanted for theft after she incriminated herself by replying to a Facebook post insulting an alleged thief.

Stephanie Davidson was getting ready to fly back home to Wichita Falls when her neighbors sent her photos that allegedly showed 44-year-old Misty Cape stealing from her home. She quickly posted the photos to the locally popular Facebook page, Rants and Raves of Wichita Falls, before her plane took off.

“Anyone know who this trash is robbing my house while I’m out of town?” Davidson wrote.

When Davidson’s plane landed, she found that Cape had incriminated herself, replying to the Facebook post and allegedly admitting her guilt.

“People need to mind their own business. This woman called me trash… just because I broke in her house and stole some stuff. She don’t even know me. But thinks it’s ok to call me trash,” Cape wrote.

Cape, who also goes by the name Misty Criddle, is now wanted for theft of property valued between $2,500 and $30,000.

Davidson says she was out of town for three weeks, and she’s unsure how long Cape had been inside her home or if she was the only one involved in the alleged theft.

“I wanted to throw up. I wanted to be sick. It’s pretty bad. I think they’ve been in there probably the whole time I was gone, going in and out, just taking stuff. Ransacked. It’s hard to even tell what’s gone and what’s there ‘cause it’s a mess,” Davidson said.

She adds the community is helping her during this tough time.

“I don’t know how I’d feel if I didn’t have the support because it’s really hard. You really do feel violated when people go and dig through your property and steal from your kids and you,” Davidson said.

Anyone with information that could lead to Cape’s arrest is encouraged to submit a tip through Wichita Falls Area Crime Stoppers.
