1 arrested, another sought for gas station robbery attempt-turned-shooting, per MPD
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - The Memphis Police Department has secured an arrest and issued a warrant in connection with a robbery attempt that sent a man and young boy to the trauma center last week.
Tariq Robinson, 21, was arrested Tuesday and charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder, attempted especially aggravated robbery, and two counts of employment of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony.
Robinson is currently being held at the Shelby County Jail on a $300,000 bond. His next court appearance is Thursday morning.
A warrant has been issued for Kevon Chapman, 18, charging him with the same counts.
According to MPD, the crime occurred outside the Circle K at 6193 Mount Moriah Road on the night of Thursday, May 29.
Two male victims, an adult and a minor whose age was not disclosed, were found with gunshot wounds at the scene. Both were rushed to Regional One Hospital in critical condition.
MPD reports that surveillance video showed two men get out of a white Nissan Altima and approach the vehicle that the two victims occupied.
One suspect entered the back seat, while the other remained outside and shouted at the victims to get out before firing at them several times.
Investigators identified the suspects as the culprits on Monday.
Chapman remains at large as of Wednesday afternoon.
