MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - As President Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill” continues its way through Congress, rallies against his policies are popping up all over the country.

Wednesday morning, a group called Indivisible Memphis protested outside the district office of Republican Tennessee Congressman David Kustoff on Poplar Avenue in East Memphis.

The rally was part of a larger campaign called “Operation No Silence, No Surrender.”

It calls on elected officials to reject what they consider extreme budget cuts in the president’s bill.

The group held up signs showing their frustration with Rep. Kustoff for voting in favor of Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” and ignoring their demands for a town hall meeting.

The group is calling attention to multiple issues, ranging from SNAP benefits to healthcare coverage.

“When people lose their healthcare, hospitals and healthcare providers absorb those costs. When Medicaid or Medicare is not paying out to healthcare institutions, they lose those dollars and that changes how much your insurance premiums are, how much they charge for healthcare. Our dollars will be put into replacing these benefits that they are cutting, and that is the part they don’t talk to you about,” said Amber Hampton, a member with Indivisible Memphis.

Action News 5 reached out to Rep. Kustoff for comment about Wednesday morning’s rally, and we’re still waiting to hear back.
