Texas couple arrested for TennCare fraud connection in Memphis, TBI says
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A Texas couple was arrested for TennCare fraud, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
In April, Richard and Tammy Banks were arrested and charged with one count each of theft of property $10,000-$60,000 and were booked into the Shelby County Jail.
In July 2024, TBI got information from a TennCare Managed Care Organization alleging that a couple from Texas submitted fraudulent claims for the care of a patient in Memphis.
During the investigation, agents found information from January 2024 through November 2024 that Richard and Tammy Banks submitted personal care claims for the Memphis patient for care not rendered while they lived in Texas, causing TennCare a loss of thousands of dollars, according to TBI.
