MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A woman has gone viral on TikTok after sharing her concerns about Dr. Sanjeev Kumar’s clinic reopening.

The federally indicted gynecologist was granted the ability to reopen his clinic as he faces 23 counts of illegal sexual acts and medical misconduct.

Ily Jeannton said she was a patient at Poplar Avenue Clinic Women’s Health and Med Spa in 2021.

She added that she only found out about the federal indictment and investigation from social media, resulting in her turning back to social media to share her concerns.

Her video on TikTok has generated over 200 thousand views. In the clip with tears in her eyes, she explains her concerns about the reopening of Dr. Sanjeev Kumar’s clinic.

Jeannton said she does not believe it is safe for the clinic to reopen after the number of allegations and what she experienced as a patient of another doctor in the clinic.

She says even with the conditions put in place for the clinic to reopen, she believes it is still a risky situation for patients.

“200-plus women have come forward. I like, I just don’t understand how they expect to reopen. Without authoritative oversight actively in the room for every single procedure, I don’t believe that any of the standards will be followed to protocol,” she said.

She claims she was assaulted while she was a patient, but by another doctor in the clinic.

Action News 5 has reached out to the US Attorney’s office to ask if any other doctors in the office were being investigated. The Office responded with “no comment”.

Jeannton said she is planning to take legal action against the clinic and the doctor whom she says assaulted her.

Dr. Kumar is expected to be back in court on Wednesday, May 7.
