16-year-old charged with attempted murder after fight turned shooting at park near Overton High School, police say
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - The Memphis Police Department has arrested and charged a teen suspect accused of shooting a victim at a park near Overton High School.
On April 10, around 11:08 a.m., officers responded to a shooting victim arriving at the fire station on Willow Road.
The female victim was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
Officers were told that the female victim was involved in a fight near the community center when the shooting occurred.
As the fight was ending, the girl, the victim, got into a silver SUV with a male juvenile.
As the SUV left the scene, the male leaned out of the car and fired shots at the female victim, striking her.
The suspect, a 16-year-old male, is charged with attempted first-degree murder and illegal gun possession.
