MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A family needs your help after a devastating loss. We first told you about a fatal crash on I-40 that happened on Friday, Feb. 21― taking the life of an 8-month-old baby girl.

The child has been identified as Nai’lani Carnegie.

Her family has started a fundraiser to pay for her funeral and help bring her body home to California.

Nai’lani was pronounced deceased at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital after an early morning crash on I-40 between Appling and Whitten Roads in Memphis.

Memphis Police are still investigating exactly how the crash happened.

Three vehicles were involved, one overturned. Nai’lani and her family were in a Honda sedan.

Four adults had minor injuries from the crash. Little Nai’lani lost her life.

Her parents were devastated by the loss.

Na’lani’s great uncle Harvey Whisenton says she’d light up the room every time you’d see her.

“She was just a real happy baby,” said Harvey Whisenton. “Every time I saw her she was just lighting up everybody’s mood and spirit.”

The family was traveling from California to Arkansas for a funeral when the crash happened.

They’re asking for help to cover funeral expenses and transportation costs to bring her home to be buried.
