MLGW expects peak energy demand across Tenn., provides plan to prepare
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Tennessee Valley Authority is preparing for peak energy demand happening across Tennessee.
According to MLGW, Wednesday will exceed the all-time peak TVA has experienced since January 2024.
The system will be continuously monitored for any changes, and TVA has systems in place to meet the peak demand, said MLGW.
If necessary, MLGW will reach out to commercial and industrial customers who are a part of TVA and MLGW and ask them to lower their energy consumption to help overall demand.
According to MLGW, all TVA customers might be requested to conserve energy to help lower usage from Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. This will include:
- Turning the home thermostat down to 68 degrees or less
- Unplug electric vehicles and space heaters
- Postpone the use of large appliances like drying clothes and using the dishwasher
