MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A judge raised a man’s bond from $200,000 to $1 million at a hearing on Friday after the State successfully argued for the increase.

Adam Lambert is charged with aggravated child abuse and aggravated child neglect.

Lambert wanted the court to reduce his bail to $100,000 through his defense counsel, blaming his co-defendant for the crimes.

During the hearing, Assistant District Attorney Tanisha Johnson requested Judge Coffee to examine Lambert’s past criminal history, which included misdemeanor convictions in four states.

The State also stressed the seriousness of the offense and the high possibility of conviction.

The 2-year-old victim in the case had second-degree burns on her buttocks, hands and feet, a black eye, a fractured leg, and a fractured spine.

While Lambert denied causing the injuries, he admitted to being aware of some of them and neglecting to seek medical attention for the child.

Judge Coffee, describing the injuries as evidence that the child was “basically butchered,” considered the original amount inadequate and increased it to $1 million.

The child’s mother, who is also a co-defendant, attended the hearing at her attorney’s request to learn about the potential consequences of a bond review.
