1 man in hospital, 1 injured after shooting and crash minutes apart, both on Jackson Avenue, police say

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - The Memphis Police Department is investigating both a shooting and a crash that left two people injured.

Around 3:53 p.m., officers responded to a multi-vehicle crash at on Jackson Avenue.

One man was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

According to MPD, two people were detained and all three lanes are closed. Only a few minutes earlier, on Jackson Avenue, around 3:21 p.m., officers responded to a shooting.

The victim received medical treatment at the scene but refused to be transported; no one was detained.

MPD is currently investigation both incidents.
