MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A man is accused of robbing a woman’s car outside of a Dollar General on February 16.

Wayne Sanders is charged with three counts of convicted felon in possession of a handgun, one count of possession of a prohibited weapon with a machine gun switch, theft of property $2,500-$10,000, theft of property with a handgun $2,500-$10,000, and evading arrest on a foot pursuit.

Sanders has a criminal history that dates back to 2014 when he was convicted of aggravated assault and served six years in the Tennessee Department of Corrections.

Police say on February 16, Sanders approached a woman inside the Dollar General on Elvis Presley Boulevard and snatched her car keys from her, stealing her 2004 Chrysler Crossfire.

This past Saturday, officers say they saw the exact vehicle driving eastbound on Wabash Street and called in more authorities. As the officers were making the scene, both Sanders and another suspect exited the vehicle and ran away.

Sanders went into a residence armed with multiple weapons and attempted to hide in the attic, according to police. Sanders was taken into custody and officers recovered a loaded Draco 762x39, a loaded Glock 21 .45 Caliber, a loaded and stolen Glock 19 .9mm with a switch attached.
