Savannah Guthrie visits Memphis on book tour launching ‘Mostly What God Does’
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - On weekdays, Savannah Guthrie handles headlines as co-anchor of “Today,” but this week she’s making headlines herself as she steps out on faith as the author of a new book titled “Mostly What God Does.”
“Mostly what God does is love you. That’s the name of the book and that’s the truth I’m trying to share,” says the Emmy winner. “I’m hoping that whether you’re a person of faith ― a lot of faith, or whether you have a lot of doubt ― that you’ll find something in this book.”
Action News 5 sat down to discuss the book with Guthrie at Novel Bookstore in East Memphis before she signed hundreds of copies of what is a collection of personal essays on spiritual growth ― spanning her childhood, marriage and motherhood, and her career with NBC.
“Although I come from a particular faith and I grew up in a Baptist church and it comes from that perspective, my hope is that there are themes and takeaways that are universal and compelling and reach people where they are,” Savannah told us.
Savannah’s book tour included two Mid-South stops ― once in Oxford, Mississippi; the other ― at Novel where she was greeted by a sold-out crowd.
“Mostly What God Does” is now available wherever books are sold.
“I just felt like I had something good to say about God and I wanted to share it,” said Guthrie.
