Bear still on the loose in Jonesboro
JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - Police say a bear is still on the loose in Jonesboro.
The Jonesboro Police Department received reports of seeing the bear in downtown Jonesboro early Thursday morning.
Overnight, the bear was on the move.
The Jonesboro Police Department confirmed the latest sighting of the bear around 12:20 a.m. Thursday, May 11, at East Johnson Avenue near Howard Street and Leggett Street in a patch of woods.
They noted Arkansas Game and Fish Commission had been notified.
Before 3 p.m., Wednesday, May 10, a Jonesboro Police Department spokeswoman said the bear was seen near Home Depot on Parker Road.
It’s believed the bear might have crossed Interstate 555 and headed toward the north.
That report came just minutes after JPD posted video on social media of the bear roaming around Craighead Forest Park.
If you see the bear, JPD urges you not to approach it and to call 911 immediately.
