Pedestrian killed on East Parkway S, driver charged
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Memphis Police officers responded to a pedestrian crash at East Parkway South on Wednesday.
Officers say a black Q50 Infinity struck a woman at East Parkway Street and Sam Cooper Boulevard around midnight.
She did not survive her injuries.
The driver remained on the scene, said police.
Cherance King, 35, was arrested and charged with no driver’s license and financial responsibility under the “Ricky Otts Act.”
Records show King has a lengthy criminal history that includes multiple traffic-related charges along with charges of domestic assault, burglary and drug possession.
He is being held on a $2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Thursday.
