Storm Reports: Power outages, flash flooding reported in the Mid-South
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Today is a First Alert Weather Day and reports are coming in of storm damages, power outages and flash flooding due to severe weather throughout the Mid-South.
MLGW reports that currently 4,194 customers are currently being affected by power outages as of 8 p.m. This number is expected to increase throughout the afternoon and evening from strong winds affecting powerlines and poles.
Flash flooding warnings were issued for Memphis and Bartlett, TN and Southaven, MS, until 7:45 p.m.
Flooding on several roads throughout Shelby County has caused several cars to stall, blocking roadways. Police advise using caution on roadways and not to drive through standing water.
A possible funnel cloud was spotted above West Memphis earlier this afternoon.
Another funnel cloud was spotted in Alamo, TN, but there has been no confirmation of any tornados touching down at this time.
Tornado warnings for Shelby County expired at 4:15 p.m., but the Mid-South is still under a tornado watch until 9 p.m. Wednesday tonight.
