Gov. Hutchinson tours tornado response efforts in Trumann
TRUMANN, Ark. (WMC) - Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson traveled to Trumann to meet to with local leaders and tour tornado response efforts.
Hutchinson said that the community’s response and volunteer efforts were amazing to him.
“It’s exciting to me to see the young people. It sorta brings back a memory of when I was in high school we had a tornado that hit our community, and young people learn a lifetime of giving in these kind of circumstances,” Hutchinson said. “To see volunteers that are here from North Carolina, from Florida, from across the state of Arkansas, and they’re here, experienced, organized, they’re providing emotional support...” said Hutchinson.
He says it’s the most amazing thing about people, seeing them disrupt their lives to help others.
“That’s, uh, to be American and it is Arkansas,” Hutchinson said.
