Grizzlies select Stanford’s Ziaire Williams with No. 10 pick in 2021 NBA Draft
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - The Memphis Grizzlies selected Ziaire Williams with the No. 10 pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.
Williams, a Stanford forward, is 6′8″ and averaged 10.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists over one season at Stanford.
Many fans were thinking the Grizzlies might take Arkansas guard Moses Moody, but in Williams, Memphis gets a leaper who can work the rim or the mid range game. Williams is also credited with being a strong defender.
“So, to my new organization, man, you’re going to get a guy who has a team-first mentality, who is willing to sacrifice his body, his time, shoot, almost his soul for the team,” said Williams. “This is an unbelievable experience. I’m just so grateful. All glory goes to God, man. This is just amazing, man. I’m super excited to be in this position. I’m going to give the organization my everything, both on and off the court.”
The Grizzlies tradedpopular center Jonas Valanciunas to the Pelicans to move up in the draft to the 10th spot.
Memphis’ original pick was 17th.
