CANTON, Ohio (WOIO) - An 85-year-old Canton man was severely beaten after the driver of a car crashed into him early Sunday morning.

Family members said Ralph White suffered multiple injuries; including, facial fractures and brain bleeding.

According to Canton police, White’s car was struck around 12:45 a.m. Sunday in the 2600 block of 8th Street NE.

Cory Crank is the grandson of Ralph White, and he tells 19 News that his grandfather is holding on; however, it’s a scary time for his family.

“They say he is going to lose his left eye, maybe. They are trying to finger out how to stop the bleeding on his brain.

Blood coming out of both of his ears, They trying to figure out a lot of stuff. I don’t think he will be normal again”, said Crank.

After the crash, the driver of the car attacked White with his fists before fleeing the scene.

Police said they have impounded the possible vehicle driven by the suspect and are processing it.

Police also said they have a “person of interest,” but no charges have been filed at this time.
