Basketball hall of fame winner Jerry Sloan dies at 78

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Legendary Utah Jazz Coach Jerry Sloan died Friday morning from complications of Parkinson’s Disease.

After a solid playing career, Sloan coached the Jazz for 23 seasons, becoming the first NBA coach to win 1,000 games and earning a spot in the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.

He led the Jazz to back to Back finals appearances against Michael Jordan and the Bulls in 1997 and 1998.

Sloan was 78 years old.
