Tennessee reports 1,834 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 13 deaths; 396 cases in Shelby County

SHELBY COUNTY, Tenn. (WMC) - There are now nearly 2,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Tennessee, according to state health officials.

On Monday afternoon, the Tennessee Department of Health reported 1,834 cases, including 13 deaths and 148 hospitalizations.

According to the state health department, there are 396 confirmed cases in Shelby County, which has more cases than any other county in the state.

SCHD director Alisa Haushalter confirmed Monday there is an outbreak at a local assisted living facility but gave no other details.

On Saturday, Shelby County reported its first death related to COVID-19.

Here’s the breakdown of age ranges in Shelby County as of Monday, March 30:

Both in Shelby County and across the state, people 21 to 30 years of age are leading the way in confirmed cases. Here are the cases by age group, according to the state health department.

On Sunday, more than 100 residents and staff at the Gallatin Center for Rehabilitation tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Two people have died. Nearly two dozen residents have been evacuated.

According to the governor’s office, the facility is being cleaned and disinfected thoroughly.
