Private investigator works to find information in death of Sarah Vinick
MARSHALL COUTNY, Miss. (WMC) - An investigation into the death of a 26-year-old Collierville woman is underway after her body was found in a creek on Christmas Eve.
Sarah Vinick was reported missing in early November. The Vinick family hired private investigator Marti Miller earlier this month. Miller says her mission is to find answers and bring closure to this family.
“Her parents and her family cannot have rest until the end of this story.” said Miller.
It’s a tragic story -- says Miller. Miller has been following leads and conducting her own investigation into the disappearance and death of Vinick.
“Sarah called her mama at least four or five times a day and then all of the sudden the phone is dead," said Miller.
The Collierville mother was reported missing last month -- after she was last seen getting into a pick up truck at the Cordova house where she was renting a room.
On Christmas Eve, two hunters found Vinick's body underneath the Coldwater Creek Bridge in Marshall County.
Investigators say it appears her body had been there for quite some time.
“I’m not saying that Sarah did anything wrong, at all. I’m saying she was troubled and had some problems and sometimes people that are troubled and have problems get mixed with the wrong people,” said Miller.
Miller’s received at least 40 tips since starting her investigation, but she’s asking the community for help. She wants to bring justice to Vinick’s family, including her 4-year-old daughter, who is now without her mother.
“This family needs closure and the only way they’re going to be able to put it to rest is when they know the truth," said Miller.
There’s still no word on how Sarah Vinick died -- investigators say they’re waiting for the toxicology report to be completed.
