Report: 2.3 earthquake reported in New Madrid County

NEW MADRID COUNTY, Mo. (KAIT) - A 2.3 earthquake was detected Sunday in Southeast Missouri, according to a report from the University of Memphis Center for Earthquake Research and Information.
The Mother’s Day earthquake happened around 3 p.m. May 12, two miles northeast of Lilbourn.
According to a map on the center’s website, the earthquake happened in an area southeast of County Road 639.
Officials said in the report the tremor had a depth of 12.1 kilometers.
