Marshall Co. prison guard attacked by inmate, hospitalized with head injury

MARSHALL COUNTY, MS (WMC) - A Marshall County Correctional Facility prison guard was hospitalized after being attacked by an inmate Wednesday around 8 p.m.
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the guard was airlifted to a hospital with head trauma.
Officials said the prisoners also started a fire inside, and the prison is on lockdown.
The guard’s condition is unknown; WMC Action News 5 has reached out for more information on their status and the identity of the inmate who is responsible.
