MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - A grand jury has indicted a Bartlett dentist for shooting the woman he was living with in August 2018.

Bobby Eugene Massengill, 74, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of 52-year-old Sheila Scott.

73-year-old killed his girlfriend after hearing her smash things in the kitchen, police say

Prosecutors say Massengill confessed to shooting Scott in the chest with a shotgun Aug. 2, 2018. Police found Scott in the kitchen floor at their home near Inniswood and Glenchase Drives shortly before midnight. She died at the hospital hours later.

Prosecutors say Scott and Massengill lived together for three months before the shooting.

Man in custody after girlfriend shot, killed

Massengill practiced dentistry in Covington. He’s now in jail without bond.
