MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Memphis Fire Department was called to battle a house fire in Raleigh Friday morning.
The fire broke out around 4 a.m. on Westwood Cove. Firefighters arrived to find heavy fire throughout the two-story home. It took an hour before firefighters could get the fire out.
The family of four escaped the fire without injury after being alerted by the family dog. The home, however, was destroyed. The damage to the home, cars and a boat is estimated at more than $227,000.
A firefighter was injured while working to put out the fire. Officials said the firefighter suffered a minor injury to his back, but he was taken to the hospital.
Investigators say the fire started in the garage but the cause remains under investigation.
