MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Wednesday marks one year since the Memphis Police Director admitted officers somehow overlooked a homicide victim in an impounded van.

They did not discover the body for 49 days.

Police believe Bardomiano Perez Hernandez was shot in the stomach during a robbery attempt.

The driver of the van was rushed to the hospital, but somehow officers didn't see Hernandez. He died in the cargo area.

The police department and Mayor Strickland promised a full investigation. WMC learned Wednesday that those findings are nearly complete.

"Evidence has to be taken and a hearing has to be conducted where the employee says their side of the story and the proof is offered. Hearings have taken place in that situation and i expect in the next two or three weeks the results being released," Strickland said.

WMC also reached out to Memphis Police, asking if any procedures have been changed since this incident. We have not heard back.
