GERMANTOWN, TN (WMC) - The trial for two men charged with killing a Germantown woman in her friend’s driveway is underway.

Andre Bowen and Anthony Olivo are both charged in the murder of Susan McDonald.

McDonald was shot and killed August first 2015 at a home in Cordova.

She was picking up a friend to attend a 5K.

Bowen admitted the two were committing a theft when McDonald was killed.

Wednesday, jurors heard several hours of testimony from five witnesses on behalf of the state.

Many of the witnesses were law enforcement officials who gave background information about the investigation, however, one of Anthony Olivo’s family friends also took the stand.

The witness testified that Olivo admitted to him that he and Bowen were involved in Susan McDonald’s murder.

“He said he saw her withdraw some cash and leave the back, and they trailed her to wherever she was going,” said Robert Knight.

Knight also testified that Olivo said they were originally only going to rob McDonald, but it wasn’t as easy as they expected.

The state is expected to call four additional witnesses to the stand Thursday.

Court will resume at 10:30 a.m. Thursday.
